More About the Indigenous Community in Quebec
North Oceans Inc. acknowledges that our work takes place on the unceded ancestral and traditional territory of the Kanien’kehá:ka Nation.
Our operations in Tiohtià:ke, known as Montreal in English, are done in respect of the land and the Indigenous peoples who care for it.
We recognize that this land is home to many nations, including the Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk), the Anishinabeg, the Huron-Wendat, as well as diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.
We recognize that while the Great Peace of Montreal of 1701 aimed to establish harmony, subsequent conflicts over expansion have adversely affected the Mohawk communities and other Indigenous peoples. We honour their unwavering resilience and vibrant identity.
Guided by our values of empowerment, innovation, and growth, we are dedicated to promoting sustainable practices that respect and uphold Indigenous rights and traditions.
We pledge to support Indigenous communities and foster mutual growth. As we reflect on this acknowledgment, we are mindful of our responsibility as an organization and as individuals.
We strive to contribute to reconciliation and healing, recognizing the immense damage done to Indigenous communities by colonial practices and discriminatory policies.
